Taxi driver killed by wife’s lover

New Delhi, December 26, DHNS:

A 28-year-old youth along with his three associates murdered a taxi driver in Bindapur area of south west Delhi, police said on Monday.

Lekh Ram Yadav, a Mahavir Enclave resident, Harish Kumar, 27, and Rahul, 19, were nabbed for killing Vishnu Dutt, a resident of Uttam Nagar, on last Friday.

“The investigations revealed that the deceased, his wife and Yadav had frequent conversations on the mobile. Yadav also used to visit Dutt’s house, which resulted in developing relations with his wife,” said Anil Kumar Ojha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West).

Dutt was suspicious of his wife having an extra-marital affair with Yadav, and had warned him to mend his ways.

“Yadav had suspicion that Dutt had administered impotency drug in liquor and wanted to eliminate Dutt,” Ojha said.

The police officer further said that circumstantial evidences pointed the needle of suspicion towards Yadav and his two associates.

“His contradictory statements were exposed and he finally broke down. He confessed to have murdered his friend and dumped his car in Kakrola drain,” he added.

During interrogation, the trio told police that they had liquor with Dutt on December 23 and thereafter stabbed him with knives and a poker.

“They also slit Dutt’s neck to assure his death,” Ojha said. The police have recovered the weapon used to commit the murder, a knife, and blood-stained clothes of the deceased.

Yes, there's some interesting words and phrases in there for a newspaper article.

For example, "on last Friday".

Or they had "frequent conversations on the mobile".

What mobile? A phone or wot? #-o

Or they "dumped his car in Kakrola drain".

Must be some drain

Best bit is how the story goes from the victim being "warned to mend his ways" one minute, then the next he's being stabbed by "knives and a poker" and they also "slit his neck" to "ensure his death".

I take it they don't have courts or due process or any of that malarkey there - the police seem to act as judge and jury. :?
