If this was fitted to every cab and PH in the UK it could help bring down the insurance costs |

No thanks. Id rather pay a tad extra for insurance than lose run after run due to being stuck behind fastraks, granny, grandpa, sunday drivers lorries and fechin prius drivers. Skip...wash yer mouth out please!!!!

I was thinking more in terms of every other driver on the road flying past the taxi drivers

No you would still be able to do up to the max speed for the road your on, but have it set so you don't break the speed limits in towns |

Can't see a 50% reduction arising, skippy. And if drivers are limited to 20mph in certain areas at night then they'll be going round corners and the like full tilt and coming a cropper. Kind of reminds me of those little motorised go karts that I thought were great 30-odd years ago. Although they were great for teenagers who didn't have a driving licence in reality they were very slow and your foot was on the floor all the time. But to that extent they were quite dangerous going round the corners.

My Sat Nav (Garmin) already gives me the current Speed Limit and with my own speed next to it, which turns Red if I exceed that limit. And before you all ask. Why do I need a Sat Nav? I'm pretty good on Ayr and Prestwick but the back streets and new Estates of, Cumnock, Kilmarnock, Troon and Saltcoats are a mystery to me. I also use it as a handy way of calculating the Fare, in advance, as it will give me the mileage to my destination and a simple formula will then give me the approximate Fare, door to door, so that I can ask for sufficient Deposit. |
