From an advert for in car cctv in Taxitalk " The Data Protection Act forbids filming the public and accessing the footage in private."

Now I know this subject has probably been well discussed but there is no law against filming the public. I just wish that these companies would stop perpetuating this myth. People regularly film the public and publish the results on the net.

That is the Law and anyone posting such a Video is opening them-self up to the possibility of Prosecution.

Now we all know that the possibility is rare, for a Member of the Public to prosecute such an individual, but I guess that a Taxi Driver would be regarded rather like a Tethered Goat and an easy target for such a Prosecution.

There isn't a law against filming the public so you cannot be prosecuted.

Mr PH, as you say, there is no law against filming in public.

The Law takes charge when you decide to show that film outside your immediate family circle. Regardless of your intentions to limit it to your immediate family, if it should make its way to the Public, even via a Third Party, you could be held responsible.
