Dusty Bin wrote: This is a wind-up, right? Perhaps not. This says it all: The company was set up by the owners of a large midlands based taxi company, whom were finding it difficult to recruit local people. Now they only employ drivers from Romania and Poland and have found that because the drivers work 6-7 days a week that their profits have doubled. http://www.eu-taxidrivers.co.uk/ Doom'll love this one. |

I compete with Ashley David Taxis for school contracts. I think they were featured in a recent issue of private Hire and Taxi Monthly. They are based on the Loughborough University site. I have never spoken to any of their drivers before but I think that I may do now just to see how good their English is.

We've got one Polish drivers who's a liabilty, only before Christmas he was caught doing 62mph in a 30mph zone. He's paid people not to report him due to his bad driving. Last week he nearly caused an accident when he pulled in front of a bus, he paid the passngers not to report him. |

Quote: Driving Standards Our courses are designed to create modern, friendly drivers. Drivers will be trained within the remits of the national BTECH course. This will include licensing laws, Health and Safety, Highway Code, Disability awareness, customer care and service, hazard avoidance. Our drivers are trained to: - Be courteous at all times - Greet customers with Good morning/afternoon/evening - Address them as Sir or Madam - Carry luggage, shopping, pushchairs, and place them in the boot - Give customers the choice of front or rear seat - Open the door for the customer - Ensure the journey is carried out in comfort and in safety - Avoid controversial topics of conversation, such as sex, politics, or religion - Not chew gum - Not play music or have the radio on unless the customer specifically requests it - Ask the customer if the heating level meets their requirements - Point out places of interest to customers especially to those new to the city - At the end of the journey offer a receipt, a business card and the opportunity of a return booking - Most importantly, smile and thank the customer for using your company "Good night Sir!" "I do apologise for having to put those bits of greasy kebab in the bin rather than being able to retrieve them from the seats for your own consumption". "And I can't apologise enough for failing to open the window quick enough so you could puke outside the car rather than in it!" "And I'm sorry, but I can't "get back to where TF I came from" quite yet, because I need to work seven days a week to keep some people in the lifestyle they've become accustomed to". "I can only apologise again, but have a good night Sir, and do call again!". |

"All our candidates are recruited using very strict criteria and trained to the highest standards ensuring you get the best possible drivers without the usual hassle. This allows you to increase your rental income by expanding the office drivers as and when you want. Driver loyalty means much higher driver retention removing the ‘office hopper’ syndrome." But presumably the exising drivers will be "office hopping" when their earnings are driven down even further? Or perhaps draw benefits instead and then the politically correct can claim that the immigrants are needed because they're doing the jobs the indigenous workers won't do?

I sometimes wonder about your sanity Brummie. If anything I would have thought Doom was more obviously like you because of the self-serving nonsense both of you spout about restricted numbers? Or are you just worried that some people are objecting to the flow of poorly paid serfs that you need to drive your restricted taxi? ![]() But that's why I don't think you are Doom, because at least he's not quite so hypocritical about that.

I doubt the drivers are carefully selected and I also doubt that claim that there aren't suitable drivers available locally sounds to me as if they were going about the recruitment process in the wrong way to start with and then listened to this bull that goes round about Eastern European workers yes they may be less awkward about unsocial hours but they are not always very good drivers and they are only here to milk the UK economy to improve their wealth and lifestyle back home. I have heard some real horror stories of taxi companies going this route and then counting the cost in large measure |
