Dear FairFuelUK Supporter With only 20 days to the budget, we have made it really easy for you to email your MP to help in our ongoing fight for lower petrol & diesel prices. Its vital that you do this as soon as possible in order to show that cutting fuel duty will benefit the economy. Pump prices are rising sharply – the Government must act. Here’s why we need your help, and what we need you to do! On your behalf, the FairFuelUK team has commissioned a report from a respected ‘think tank’ that ‘blows away’ the Governments argument that it can’t cut petrol & diesel taxes as it would lose revenue and have to cut back even more on vital public services. This vital report shows that any revenue ‘lost’ to the Government from the cut would be more than made up by the hundreds of thousands of jobs that would be created and the boost to the general economy. Please help to get our MPs to give this report serious consideration and to urge the Chancellor to cut fuel duty in the Budget. We need you to email your MP by clicking on this link http://action.fairfueluk.com/MP urging them to seriously consider this report and to urge the Chancellor to make cutting petrol & diesel taxes a real priority. Kind regards, The FairFuelUK team http://action.fairfueluk.com/page/speak ... il-your-mp |

No matter what we do the Government will never lower the price of fuel, we all know it earns them to much money. They are telling people to pack up smoking, pack up drinking, buy smaller cars etc etc. All this adds up to less money going into the Governments coffers, they need to make it back somehow. |

i slow down, i drive with my head not my dick or my right foot, sadly 75% of the rest of the traffic must get free fuel, cos they drive so fast compared to me, i average 48mpg in the winter and 50mpg in the summer, id squeeze more out of it is possible but i cant, so whats next? downsize? - i could but it would mean a focus or suchlike with restricted rear leg room cos im 6ft tall and need space in the front, a mondeo is about right drive less? er...... change fuel? - lpg...yeah but i notice there are fewer gas cars in the used car market, i wonder why.... change jobs? - well that seems the way forward |

Reducing the price of Fuel ~ The only way would be by reducing the Taxes on it. Which Tax would you rather pay more of, of because you cannot pass that tax requirement to another person? At least Fuel is a Tax Deductible Expense. |

07 March 2012 Dear Mr Marchant, Re: FairFuel. Thank you for your email about fuel prices. I know high fuel prices are hitting people hard and they are doing so at a time when families, pensioners and businesses are already being squeezed by higher food prices and rising gas and electricity bills. It is now clear that the Government’s decision to increase VAT to 20% was a serious mistake. A year ago the Chancellor promised to get the economy growing again and stated he would introduce a fair fuel stabiliser which would cut fuel duty when petrol prices were higher. One year on, the Chancellor is now indicating he is going to press ahead with a fuel duty increase, even though rising oil prices mean pump prices have reached a record high. This is another promise that the Government has failed on and will make it even more difficult for families to live. As part of Labour’s five point plan for jobs, we argue that the Government should temporarily reverse the VAT rise – cutting it back to 17.5%. This would cut the price of a litre of petrol by around 3p.Cutting VAT would have an immediate effect on the price of petrol as well as the cost of many other things families rely on. Thank you once again for writing to me and I hope this Government will act on the huge public pressure and lower fuel duty. Yours sincerely Gloria De Piero MP for Ashfield |
