I don't need to be a member to read it and if you notice I don't log in much as I can't stand the constant tittle tattle that goes on, lemme educate you, the future of the cab industry will be decided by the law commission, probably already has been if truth is known, if they have eyes and ears the main concern to them is how they are going to remove the plague of unsuitables from the job and make it harder for them to gain entry in future, I don't want front crooks out there with me or cheap cvnts who rip my customer base off constantly, and that doesn't mean foreign or Asian in particular, there's enough British trash out there also right now, I quite like the way the Brighton thing works tbh, restrict entry by standards, that doesn't mean by deregulation either, it means that someone down there has a brain to communicate and organise things, this unfortunately can't work everywhere because there is always the spanner of corruption lurking around, personally I think they will up the stakes for a badge and leave the system as it is with higher vehicle standards put in place like nothing to be licenced over 2 years old and off when it hits 5 yrs of age, after all if the public part with good money they should have a good experience, not a ride in a death trap that is like Cozy Powell in the studio, and clean at all times, anyway that's me done for a while so if you want to contact me I'll be using the name

Yes, 2 years on an 5 off would be a good age rule (for saloons at least), but I fear that the LC's deregulatory remit will mean that whatever's decided it won't be anything like as onerous as that.

Indeed given that their remit also has a 'local decision making' approach as well then they could well just leave that with local councils, so no change there then.

Thx DB, I was a bit miffed at the time, as if me of all folks is going to use multiple identities here.

Adding to the standards, it needs an edit, WAV's you should be able to have at least a 5 year life, but, I would add that once it's done 100k it should be tested more often and if the first test shows multiple faults and bad body damage it continues to be tested say 2x a year, where a good example should remain on 1x a year, i.e if the owner is known to keep good standards then 2x tests not required, could do the same for saloons tbh, that would get the standard of the cars up no doubt.

Cleaning, not always possible to stay showroom all the time, but inside should be clean and the outside in bad weather times should at least have the windows rear door to wing edges and door handles wiped over.
