The local TOA In Manchester have an annual festivel called pass the Chair. It consists of TOA Committee members who slap each other on the back and say, it's your turn next.

I think you know what I'm alluding to. Yes you guessed it, it's that Annual General meeting where a nod and a wink is given to the next in line for the job of TOA Chairman.

There are good and bad Chairman in every regime but I really got pizzed off a few years ago when the members elected an Asian who was incomprehensible. I have nothing against Asians but you would think that an organisation such as the Manchester TOA would recommend a man who was articulate?

Not so, but the Committee members didn't care, because they new their turn would come around sooner or later.

Waayneeee Caasey knows who I'm talking about because he had a first hand sample of the articulate nature of the person in question.

To cut to the quick this guy knows sweet FA about the Taxi trade yet Manchester TOA sought fit for some reason to elevate him into a position of prominence.

Need I say more about Manchester?

JD

Oh JD, they now think you are a racist, or as the thicko's elsewhere say 'rasist'.

What they don't wish to read from your post is your utter contempt, for the local trade, for voting for someone for reasons other than he is the best person for the job.

You have me at a disadvantage JD.

I dont know whether you are a TODA member or not. If you are I'm sure you will be aware that people are elected by others, any concerns you have could obviously be made at TODA meetings.

I have spoken to and indeed had a few drinks with the person in question, I found him to be very pleasant and always supportive of me, which is all I could basically ask of the guy.

As stated, he was elected by others, if you feel wrongly so, it is up to you to ask the relevant questions.

Mind you, I dont actually think your racist in this issue, as suggested by others, I think your making a point you feel necessary and would give your view regardless of race.

Regards

Captain Cab

Clearly there are several people who think that JD's post was racist, and to be honest at first glance it did seem to mention the person's race without any justification, since it didn't seem to be relevant to the competence per se of the individual, so to that extent could be construed as racist.

However, having read the other views I think that JD's criticism related more to the Buggins's turn nature of the selection procedure and (this is the bit relating to the person's racial origin) that they were putting political correctness before competence, so I don't think the post was racist.

Not over-diplomatic perhaps, but if we deleted posts on those grounds then there wouldn't be many left. :D

It's amazing how quickly this sort of stuff gets mentioned in another place,
and also how misrepresented a few simple sentences becomes. #-o

It's as if there's some kind of Chinese whisper filter in place, that garbles the message before it's repeated elsewhere.

I don't know if it's because they think this site is so important, or whether they have nothing better to talk about - probably a bit of both, but they certainly seem to think that the site's more important than we think it is :D

But I had to have a chuckle at one of the misrepresentations:

then grab this if he deleted all posts there would be none to read!

The thing is, that's the only true thing that he's said for weeks!!

This statement is without question racist, just because it is followed by "I have nothing against Asians" you suggest that it wasn't.

This gentleman should be brought to book for this comment and his comments should be, at very least, recanted.

How strange, of all the 25000+ posts on Taxi Driver Online you choose to comment on this one for your first and only post. :-k

But hang on, aren't you the same mush that decided that the goon and the muppet's lies where in fact the truth a while ago, having looked into it for a good five minutes.

As for your website, well to be honest I'm not impressed, in fact I was going to recommend someone that could sort it out for you. The funny thing is that he is already the registrant. :-$

Maybe the fast-tan man has diversified into fencing.

Funny how he's always on about the 'real' taxi drivers.

from my experience the biggest rasists in the cab trade are the ones who do nothing but go on about other rasists.
Threy talk behind drivers backs but to their faces they are all similes.

Firstly Sussex this is not my first nor my only post.

Secondly this site allows people to view without registering, many people just like to read without contributing but sometimes things are said which compel a response.

Thirdly I found out about this site from the person who designed and hosts our site, he had said that he was well known within this community but I didn't realise I would be the subject of conspirancy theorists because of it.

Are your experiences based upon your own activity then Cgull.

I said that the comment was racist not the person who wrote it, I clarified this by stating that the comment "I have nothing against asians" didn't excuse the statement made prior to it.

You don't need to be a racist to make a comment which could be constrewed as being racist, the real problem is when it is pointed out but not recanted.

If someone said "...the guy was from Newcastle and was incomprehensible..." would that be racist?

If they said they were from Gateshead or Mansfield, and were incomprehensible, it wouldn't be racist, it would be the god's honest truth. :D
