![]() Beijing show: Geely McCar is new taxi Geely’s McCar is the second generation of mini motorbike-carrying concept the Chinese manufacturer has shown following the first-generation concept seen at last year’s Shanghai show. McCar, or ‘MagiC Car’, has four seats which can be stowed away or removed completely to accommodate a mini motorcycle. The set-up also allows for a wheelchair to sit at the rear of the car. The McCar is likely to form the basis of a taxi within the next three years. However, a partnership between Geely and British taxi-maker Manganese Bronze hasn’t been fruitful as the TX4 black cab’s thirsty petrol engines have proved unpopular since diesels were banned from China’s major cities. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArtic ... rs/262396/ |

http://www.chinacartimes.com/2012/04/25 ... ese-style/ ![]() Geely’s SX Series Merge Bentley with Chinese Style -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Every auto show you can guarantee that Geely will make something that will impress or distress. The Englon series of cars did not fail our expectations. The Englon brand, which stands for England-London, was spurred on by the introduction of the London Taxi into the Geely range which saw Geely take a handsome share in the British company. One problem – the TX4 taxi is not exactly suitable to Chinese taxi market conditions, the massive diesel lump is banned from most cities and the petrol lump is more than just a little thirsty thanks to the massive weight it is pulling around. Pricing is expensive as well, largely due to the unique platform the TX range sit on. Geely’s solution was to make a new type of taxi that caters to Chinese and other developing nations situation. Light weight, roomy, fuel efficient and carrying that British style. We’re not saying the SX and SC range are 100% destined to become taxi cabs, but it is a high possibility. |
