Hi

For a few months now I have experienced sore calf muscles when driving a lot (i.e. weekends).

Anybody else experience this and found a way to help the soreness? should I purchase better shoes or adjust seating position?

In the meantime I will resume having a massage from the missus :)

I presume this is your left leg which you use for the clutch? If you don't exercise regular you'll get a build of of lactic acid in your calf muscle, this is waste acid which is pushed out by your calf muscle after it has been exercised, if you don't have decent calf muscles the lactic acid will hang about making your calf muscle sore.

There's only one cure for this I'm afraid, excersise more then your muscles won't get sore.

Seat position could well be the problem. Move it back a notch or two, or forward if need be, and adjust the lumber position.

If you really want it sorted go to an osteopath and get put straight.

I sometimes get this for several weeks after a change of vehicle and once my legs get used to it then the muscles seem to adapt to a slightly different driving position, Its not always a case of a Different seat height, seems to me that its because Modern vehicles seem to have seats and pedals which seem to toe in towards the center console which means your sitting a bit squinter than in an older car.

Arms can ache to....steering wheels can be off center as well.

Other times is been something so Simple as new pair of shoes..maybe a higher heel or a stiffer arch, that's why I tend to stick to the same old boring make of shoe for driving.

Those are my theories at least..
