was down at T4 LHR this evening but due to an unusually easy run down had a bit of a wait so sat watching London boys whilst drinking a cup of coffee. One thing they certainly don't believe in is pulling down they all stood about waiting for the girl acting as a marshall to send people up to the third or fourth car position I think I only once saw the lead car level with her hut and I think at the most only 5 cabs occupied what looked like an 8 or 9 space rank

worse than our drivers up here I even saw punters sat waiting whilst drivers stood talking

Cabs are sent down in turn from the feeder park, there's no need to squash up as the taxi system makes sure the rank isn't over subscribed.

Drivers meet the punters after they've stated the destination to the rank marshal. That's the system.

If a driver doesn't want a trip to Timbuktu, then he'll offer it down the rank which surprisingly involves communicating with other cabbies on that rank.

Tell you what is a problem though, the county mounty minimum wage taxi crew driving punters there for stupid prices like £70 from Norwich, and them turning up at a London rank thinking I'm taking them back for the same price.

Yeah right.
