How do you think we will stand with the damage caused to some of our cars today by a huge hail storm. We had hail stones as big as tennis balls hitting the cars. The roof of my sisters car (not a taxi) resembles a golf ball with all the dents. I have never seen anything like it. |

Is there a written exclusion in the policy document stating 'Act of God' and if there is, write to the insurance company asking them to define that term as pertaining to their insurance policy. Even if they don't pay up, get them to do some work in denying the claim. |

According to the boss the insurance won't pay out. |

No such exclusion as an "Act of God". I've been in the insurance business for 30+ years so fairly sure on that one. It will come under accidental damage section so you will only be able to claim if you have a comp policy. A couple of years ago I had a client just purchase a new £60000 motorhome. On first trip, to Spain, he suffered a similar incident and Equity Red Star paid out over £20000 to fix bodywork good as gold. If anyone has problems PM me and I will try to advise. |

Heard about this and yet 20 miles away (as the crow flies) we had nothing just a couple of light showers mind you saw pictures on the news this morning of a taxi with flood water almost over the roof up in Geordieland ! I would suspect that windscreen damage would be covered but perhaps bodywork damage would be at the discretion of the insurer so read the small print or phone them for clarification |

Trouble with that is by putting in a claim even if it is rejected will let the insurance company know that you have suffered a "loss" so when it comes to renewal I will be stuffed. |

It's a sad sign of the times when we feel so intimidated by the Insurance companies tricks and nasty's that we are too frightened to put in a claim for fear of further financial punishment from them... At the end of the day we are the customer and they only the provider.

Not sure if the LC haven't already investigated insurance law but perhaps they should. Nobody should be feeling intimidated by companies that offer mandatory needs. Another of the little scams that annoys me when obtaining insurance is when their 'best quote' gets 'better' because another provider is lower |
