How much stuff do you need to carry in your car? How do you store it? What's the best way to store iotems in the boot and still leave room for suitcases?

I've always ended up with a glove box overflowing or so much in the boot that anymore than two suitcases and I'm bu99ered. Add to that the fact that you can't use all of the door pockets or seat back pockets for fear that your passengers may pinch something and you have a dilemma.

How do you all solve these problems?

What stuff do you carry?

Nothing much in the glovebox, in the passenger door pocket is an atlas, meet and greet boards. In driver's door pocket is an umbrella, a small bottle of water, earphones for phone. In the front ashtray are business cards, pen. Inside the front centre armrest is a charger for my pda, blackberry, torch, mints. In the boot, in the side cubby hole, there is an electric pump, bottle of screenwash, cleaning materials. Under the boot in the spare wheel well is a high vis jacket, large Great Britain atlas, tow rope, plastic bags, more cleaning stuff, torque wrench. That's all I need. Boot area is completely clear.

fire extinguisher, first aid kit, 12v tyre pump, selection of small tools, umbrella, glass cleaner+cloth, gaffer tape, cable ties, torch, gloves, hand cleaner and, all in a plastic box in the boot

Perfectly sensible suggestion. How much "essential might need one day" shyte do you cart around and how much of it do you really need?

A tyre pumper upperer, kitchen towel, wet wipes, screen wash in the side panels of boot. Hair brush, spare bulbs, mini bunny in glove box and a nail file and perfume in the bit that lifts up between the seats. Fire extinguisher and bottle of water in drivers door panel. Pen/paper in bum bag. Several phone numbers in phone in case I need the tyre pumper upperer using  I used to carry cat litter as well but I haven't in this car and fingers crossed I won't need it :D

You could always buy a luggage trailer and tow that with all your crap.

Steve missed your earlier posts......................nice to see that you are back.

I guessed that you must have been pretty unwell to say the least - have you seen as to how many pubs have closed in the passed 18 months , you have got a lot to answer for, not that I am saying that you drink a lot...............it just seems very coincidental

Cheers John.

Diverticulitis started 18 months ago with 3 months in hospital. About 10-12 operations, the last on 9th May this year, left me with a permanant colostomy and no rectum. There are, however, a number of advantages, not least of which is that I can no longer talk out of my ar$e!!

Just plating the car this week for a return to work at the weekend or next week. Very, very gently to begin with, though.

Not sure if I can help you out - would a nice soft inner tube to sit on help, I am not saying that you have a big ar$e - but it is off of a tractor  ? I would not charge you too much
