Some drunk has come out a pub near where our lad lives and kicked in every panel and door and scratched door windows on his Citroen, the lads got fully comp (and had some no claims till now), how does he stand for repairs or writing off? im guessing his NCB isnt protected

you couldnt make it up....

the guy knocked on the victims door and said he done it! (but he was well [edited by admin])

so hes nicked and the victim has made a statement, hes been told by the cops to get three quotes, hand em to the cops and the culprit has 2 weeks to cough up the money.....thats a new one on me!

i told the the victim IF he gets the money (after getting 6 quotes and putting the 3 dearest in) maybe sell the car on or find a cheap cash repairer....

Tell him to call a paintless dent removal guy, if the damage isn't too excessive it might be a better way to repair it, avoids seven shades of paint finish then.

The rozzers will charge him then it's up to your lads insurance company to persue him through the courts.

Always go protected no claims.

he loses ALL NCB plus curent year come next renewal if he claims - worth about £2000

the cars bottom book is about £2000, hes got £185 excess

SO, if repairs were £1500 it could be a write off, hed get a paltry £1700 and lose the car and NCB worth £2000

tomorrow i shall speak to the lad and advise, i cant understand why my lad (19+ 6ft tall, regular at the gym with a punch bag) didnt floor the drunk 50 year old david dickinson look-a-like

purely in the process of a citizens arrest of course

He may lose it anyway. I think the term used at renewal these days is "have you suffered any loss in the last 12 months." If he does not tell his insurers that he has "suffered a loss" he could also invalidate his future cover.

That sounds about the best way to go about it.

ive never been asked other than "accidents, claims, or convictions" grandad, as for loss, if the insurers dont pay out they havent a grouse, LV's own handbook states "IF we payout, or expect to payout ypur claim or a 3rd parties claim, we will seek to recoup....blah blah blah" but can i get my £800 back for increased premiums BEFORE they pay out (and looks like they wont now)? thats the question

grandad, with the loss question and your £350 windscreen and excess, do you think your insurers dont like you?

Post subject:  Re: Insurance and vandalism?

Im telling the lad to get three pukka repairers quotes (£2500 i reckon) but have a sensible cash repairer on hand

if the bloke doesnt cough consider paying the £700 hes been quoted (mates rates)

then we hit the culprit with a CCJ for the £2500

if that goes through and he still doesnt pay a charging order on his house or a winding up/bankruptcy petition could follow

seems hes in work and owns a house.......CCJ-interim CO-full CO

Did the rozzers actually see the culprit damage the car?

Did anyone actually see the culprit damage the car?

Has anyone made a statement that they saw the culprit damage the car?

Has the culprit made a written, signed statement saying he damaged the car?

Because from what I'm hearing on this thread it's another 'string-it-out and do nowt' by the rozzers!

The lad lives with his sister and parks on big car park, he parked up, as he got out the halfwit ambled over, mumbled/chatted (slurred) and our lad acknowledged him, locked his car up and went in home, whilst in home he rang his sister and whilst on the phone said he was popping over the shops, sister said to check his car, he went out and sure enough, both rear quarterpanels and both doors had been kicked in, he went back in home and a knock at the door came and this bloke said "sorry mate but ive just booted your car in", the cops then turned up as a witness had called them already. The halfwit said "it dont matter cos its a government car" - he was sure our lad was a copper!

at the police station he blew UNDER the drink drive limit

the halfwit has a record of these acts when he feels like but is (quote) in work/well paid

so the lad went to the cop shop and made a statement, the halfwit was bang to rights, and IT SEEMS has been given the opportunity to pay up for repairs or get nicked (seems strange)

the pub landlord also came over and was apologetic, but thats probably because his licence (drinks) is hanging by a thread already..... i think a few complaints are due to the licensing magistrates

passenger door....bit much for a dent away (note shoe print)

The point I'm trying to make is that although your lad made a statement, he did not see it happen.

Did the witness that phoned the police and saw it happen make a statement?

If not, what have the police got to charge him with and make it stick in court?

From what you're telling me this is going nowhere, except in the direction of a big police fudge.

There is nothing that you have written / said that is evidence that will convict the guy.

The police are doing one over your lad FFS!!!!

Do you think lying to the court is the way to go?
