Scottish Borders council have said that all those wishing to apply for passenger transport, IE school and special needs runs issued by the council, they must now have a protecting vulnerable groups one or PVG, as an enhanced disclosure would no longer be accepted

The cost of this is £59.00 and the council will pay half

Question can they force this on owners and drivers??
Due to the length that some enhanced disclosures take, how long would a PVG take

Ask for a discount.

But seriously, they can set whatever conditions they see fit. They are paying you to provide a service, and if you don't like the terms of the contract, well tough.

May well be Edd, but wtf is the point of a PGV what ever that is, when the enhanced disclosure would be Sufis
The drivers may not have the money to pay it even if they get half back, £59 is the equivalent to two days takings for some here

The point is they can, and in some ways they should.

We have to remember a CRB check never has a fail, everyone gets one. Then councils make a licensing decision on the fitness of a driver.

However other councils or council departments have no legal right to see that CRB, in fact councils should destroy it after they make an assessment.

All that is happening in your manor is the contracts people are checking for themselves and not relying on others to do so.

We are being beaten by the SBC stick....this is not being rolled out over across Scotlands other regions for several years until its a legal requirement made by the Scottish parliament and they are in no hurry to do so.

Its going to end up a mess as every driver starting a School Contract at the new Mid August term will need one or they can't drive.

The process will be slowed down as the contracted operator is viewed as an employee of the council as far as these PVG's go, so we have to apply for the Application forms, fill them in, pass them on to the SBC for them to fill in and sign as counter signatories, Pay the SBC by Cheque....then we wait until they are passed on to Disclosure Scotland for processing. And all this has to happen within 6 weeks from now.

I see some kids walking to School eusasmiles.zip

Besides, It's a bit like a CRB in that it's only good for the day it was sanctioned....

I fail to see why we need one now as its not legally being enforced at National level for years yet, I'm not sure they've checked it out before they decided to expedite matters off their own bat.
