Signed and submitted my paperword to Rochford Council for hackney carriage + private hire (Rochfords are both in one) now I have to get on and learn the roads of the borough - brush up on highway code - and learn POI on routes like pubs/airports etc.... What I wanted to ask was what have any of you guys found helpful to learing what leaning methods have you used? I am born and brought up in the area I am 26 years young! So I have a very very good knoledge by sight but road names are a worry. I have been told the test is 50 odd questions and its done on computer by multipal choice split into sections where you can only get 2 wrong in 1 section or 1 wrong in each, so to pass you have to be about above 90% Any advice I would be so greatful!! Cheers guys! Scott

Not what I have been told from the 5 different drivers I have spoken too regarding this, I was not going to jump into something so lightly without doing some research Besides anything is better then being on the rock and roll! |

Take no notice of the misery guts. If you want to go for it, then go for it. The harder you work, the more you will earn. Good luck. |

our LA gives applicants the set start/drop points and theres only 1 main road through the town - where I dont live and never go on a fare..... get your list and study, its unlikely that its too hard |

I used an A to Z. Learnt the main roads then the roads off them. Our LA provided the 75 routes that I had to learn taking the shortest distance from A to B. You could also try doing the online driving theory practice tests to help brush up on your highway code etc. Good luck anyway
