Yesterday the council invited owners to a meeting to discuss a fare rise, yes we can have one if we wish, but it will only be 2.5% and will take 600 hires to recoup the cost of implementing this due to the meter installers charge of £30.
The meeting was taken by a Mr Timothy Stephenson, formerly of Rutland council???.
He said that Rutland where in consultation that all there cabs where to be WC accessible, and that had been implemented and that most of the hack owners changed to PH because of this.
Can anyone confirm if this took place

Your being defeatist to look only at the Recoup cost of £30.00.

If you take say £40,000 a year in fares 2.5% equals £1000.00 and only a fool would fore go an Extra £970 gross a year to save on a £30.00 Meter charge. Doh!

If they,re only Taking £10,000 a year they might as well call it a day as they are paying for themselves to be working after Costs come off..or even before costs come off. :?

£25 is Cygnus' recommended rate for a meter change, allegedly.

£25 + VAT = £30

I rang Rutland a few weeks ago Skippy. It is the next LA to me and I was thinking of expanding into that borough. Oakham is 10 miles away. The chap on the phone told me that they had no age limits and never mentioned WAVs. They don't have meters either. The biggest taxi company in Rutland is Berriges, you could give them a ring for the latest info.

I once sat with 25 hacks whilst a local meter firm changed all the tarrifs to the new ones for £10 a time

it took (the lot) no more than 90 minutes, £250 and all cash and not one reciept.... not a bad mornings work!

Ours were changed a few weeks ago. There were around 50 cars to be done in around 2 hours at £20.00 each. Not a bad hourly rate.
