Anyone any idea why the price of fuel has gone back up by 10 pence a litre in the last 10 days????

I have been in Spain for the last 2 weeks. The price at my local garage has gone up by 2p a litre in that time, not by 10p.

I go abroad quite a lot so keep an eye on these things!

Esso shell and asda have all gone up here, I filled up at Esso 10 days ago at 132.9 the same as asda
Asda now 140.7 esso and shell 145.9
Unleaded all at 138.7 and .9

Blame the surge in diesel car sales on fuel increases, 20 years ago only the taxi trade wanted them, and the UK produced sufficient diesel to meet demand, now - with everyone needing 45mpg (even 5000mile a year OAP shoppers and school run mums) we import diesel, so the price is even more dictated than crude import prices.

WTI (Texas) is both lighter and sweeter, containing about 0.24% sulfur. Brent crude has about 0.37% sulfur and is still classified as a sweet crude.

Now compare that with the world's heavier deposits of oil...

Heavy crude oil produced from Venezuela's Orinoco Belt contains approximately 4.5% sulfur.

Even the mighty OPEC — which produces about 40% of the world's oil supply — doesn't have the same quality.

It's the hidden 5p price increase by the Government the one from the 1st of April and the one from the 1st of August 2012. Osbourne said he wasn't going to increase duty but we all know he's a lying bastard of cornucopia proportions.

daughter mentioned petrol was up again, i hadnt noticed, having not filled up for a few weeks let all those considering starting up in any transport business take note it aint gonna get any better folks

On the news last night, price of crude oil gone up again; pound down against the dollar, even though it seems to be doing well against the euro... Think lucky, petrol in Germany 173.9euro a litre; diesel 156.9 a litre...the cheapest is always Luxembourg, last time (July) at 123.9 for diesel, 146 for petrol, compared to 2 years ago diesel 92.3 a litre for diesel and about 110 for petrol. I go abroad quite a lot so keep an eye on these things!

North Sea Oil isn't used to refine petrol or diesel because of it's low quality.
