Wife killed for selling taxi to clear debt

New Delhi A 27-year-old man strangled his wife to death, on learning that she had sold his taxi to pay off their debts.

The incident was reported to the Northeast district police on Tuesday morning, when Vasudev Dubey called the police control room and confessed to murdering his wife.

According to police, Dubev had returned home on Saturday night and found that his wife Arti had sold off his taxi without telling him.

“The couple had run up a huge debt, due to which loan sharks regularly visited their house and harassed Arti. Fed up of the harassment, she sold off his taxi while he was in Itawa. This had led to a dispute between the couple on Saturday night. The two had been fighting since Saturday,” a police official said.

According to police, Dubey called them at 9.30 am on Tuesday. Police said a team from GTB Nagar police station reached his house and found Arti’s body.

Dubey told police that he had killed her on Monday night and that in shock, he had slept next to his wife’s body.

“We reached the spot and found Dubey in a state of shock. Their three-year-old daughter was crying beside the body. We have arrested him and registered a case of murder,” a police official said.

Dubey was as a taxi driver and Arti was a house wife.

The couple was married for six years. To buy the taxi, Dubey had sold a portion of land in his village.

Taxiing wasn't a very profitable Business in his village if she had to sell his Taxi to pay off their debts..Maybe the bit of land he had in the Village might have been the better option, he could have buried Arti there. #-o
