Taxi Driver Online

Since our council introduced their points scheme i have heard little mention of it and seen very little action on a lot of offences going on at the rank. Today one of my drivers got a letter telling him he had been given 4 points on his taxi license. The reason his car was in the garage getting his engine rebuilt after the cam belt snapped during that period (3 weeks) his plate ran out once the car was released from the garage it was immediately put through a test and re-plated before it was used but because there was a 2 day gap between the plate running out and renewal he has had 4 penalty points put on his license.

If it was a simple case of forgetfulness fair enough but he was not in a position to get it tested nor was the vehicle in use so I think that is a bit rough

What would have happened if he had de-licensed the car, and then re-licensed it anew?

I would appeal to a higher department boss or your local Councillor as this seems utter madness. Might even be worth contacting the Ombudsman, but that must be after a council complaint.
