as some of you will be aware i am a plasterer of 35 years who bought shares and ph vehicle on the largest company in sunny blackpool some 13 months ago.here are some thoughts.

1- what an incredibly stressfull job.

2-what an incredibly demanding job.

3-what an incredibly expensive job.

4-what an incredibly dangerous job.

5-what an incredibly responsible job.

6-what an incredibly under respected job.

directors who are in it for themselves who very rarely work the streets have 2 or 3 holidays a year and seem to think they re are above you .dont tell me to stand against them they have all the proxy votes from the bumspiders.

how hard working and professional some of the drivers are.

how nice most of the customers are.

i like the job but as a father of 2 young boys the hours are brutal and to be honest make the job not worth it and if i can sell i will preferably in the new year.

i have total respect for all you guys what a tough tough profession.

I've been saying that for the last 25 bloody years.

One question I must ask you and it's this, why the fuck did you come into this trade when you've got a trade of 35 years behind you? You can't tell me that there's no work out there for spread with 35 years experience on the tools?

Did a driver pick you up and told you that he was earning £1,000 a week? That's how people slip into this trade.

Same round here mate, they won't quote you for a job unless it's £250 minimum and done in a day. A mate of mine who's done a few jobs for me has been a spread for the best part of 20 years, he's never off work sometimes doing 7 days a week.

up here there is very little work and i am a go getter.i have worked in usa and australia aswell as doing specialist finishes such as venetian plaster.i came back to GB in 2005 after 25 years away and with no contacts worked for someone, that went tits in o8.
every spread i know is struggling.the final straw for me came when i was charged for dangerous parking whilst looking for work.this explains that situation http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?sho ... ntry611478

there is no ryhme or reason has to who is getting work at the moment i have worked for spreads who have no right to have any.site work is non existant and prices are a joke if you dont get shafted.

as for the prices you have told me people round your way are getting all i can say is there is as much bull talked in that trade as in this.

Just looked at your thread on Pepipoo and note the case was dropped. The good people on there asked for further details and I'm sure they'd appreciate that.

I too got done for dangerous parking many years ago, it's an endorseable offence too. That case was dropped for various legal reasons during the trial!

Otherwise there's little or no money in the taxi/ph trade at the moment.'
