Why not offer a H&R policy that would include a 2nd family non-plated car?

Most taxi insurance is arranged through brokers on bespoke "broking" software packages, SSP, Open Gi, Transactor etc. It is very much an IT issue that these systems can only accomodate 1 vehicle per policy. The other problem is the policy wordings/cover vary greatly between private car policies and H&R.

To people outside the insurance business it is almost as difficult explaining the differences as it is to explain the difference between PH and HC to a memeber of the fare paying public, sober or not. Having said that, it would be great!

2 Jobs, what is this gizmo that confused .com is advertising and would it help bring down our premiums if fitted.
31 years of a clean driving licence and NCB but premiums still go up

but there already multi-car insurances, so it cant be that hard

where i thought it would be a help was with an owner/driver with a LTi/wav hack which may not be an ideal family vehicle, and a second car would be welcome, plus the wife/partner could drive it

i have a mondeo PH but often remove the horrible sticky council signs if i go away, i just dont want em on

Yup telematics. Up to now commonly used in HGV's and PCV's. Also the young drivers black box that was tried by the Co Op is basically that.

For taxis there are a couple of insurers now making it available. Catlin and Aviva on some of their schemes.

The multi vehicle policies advertised on telly are generally only available from the "direct" writers such as Aviva Direct, Admiral etc. Whilst covering more than one vehicle, the cover and terms and conditions description of use would be the same for all cars. Whilst in theory you could have say 2 identical Mondoe's, one a taxi and the other private, the way the cover is worded is chalk and cheese.

I am concerned that in the next few years these sorts of devices are going to become a very common requirement for taxi insurance. Also one underwriter is now insisting on full credit history checks and copy utility bills etc for both policyholder and driver. Anyone with a CCJ in last 6 years won;t get cover with them!
