During New Labours corrupt time in office 300 000 pensioners either starved or froze to death due to the woeful pensions and the RIP OFF power companies another of the thing Thatchers achievements  So the question how many will go the same way this coming winter 10,000 15.000 who knows ??? This at a time of Tax Cuts for the rich and bankers multi million ££££££££ bonus's dont you just love these Governments ?? So anyone got any ideas how to stop this bollocks ??????????? |

Mrs Thatcher has not been the prime minister for over 20 years. If what she did was so bad, why has no government changed it since? |

And would labour be any better this country needs a new force in politics one that isn't so concerned with keeping their noses in the trough and more concerned with actually looking after Britain. Sadly I can't see that happening. Especially as the ones most interested are the ones least likely to have any common sense |

Ermmmmm didn't New Labour bring in the winter fuel payments of £300 per year and £25 per week after that if the temprature stayed below a certain temprature for 5 days?? How's that killing 300,000 pensioners? You're tablets are on the top shelf darling. |

Trotsy, how about HMG take the fuel payments off the ex-pats living in Tenerife/Florida/Aus.. who simply dont need it, and the fuel payments made to retirees who have millions in the bank (including cliff richard for instance, and des o'connor, and brucie) and of course royalty, and spread that money out to PROPER UK pensioners who LIVE here on a state pension?.... radical int it, looking after those who need it but dont politicise it, neither Labour nor Tories have done it despite having plenty of chance to |

How about those who live in Nursing Homes and those who live in Sheltered Housing where the heating is included in the price of their rents?? They all get the Winter Fuel Payment. There's a few old ex miners round here who still get their coal free after doing 40 odd years down the mines, they still get the winter fuel payment even though they get 9 loads of coal a year which equates to 9 tonnes. Round Nottingham there's thousands of houses that run off the Wheatcroft Incinerator at a cost of £18 per week, this burns all the rubbish from in and around Nottingham, they can use as much heat as they want for £18 per week, it provides 24/7 hot water and heating, the pensioners who live in the houses that run off the Wheatcroft burner still get their £300 per year fuel money. |

They all get the Winter Fuel Payment. no they dont, or at least those in a council run (or fees paid by the state) dont, dads in one, he has had his state pension and company pension off him and gets £20 a week pocket money, nothing else. |
