Post subject:  Who or what are they?
I had a pick up last night in Nottingham. There was a long line of green cabs all waiting on double yellow lines. There were some official looking people in what looked like police uniforms talking to some of the taxi drivers. They were wearing what looked like police hats and the yellow jackets as worn by the police. However upon closer inspection the jackets had the words "taxi licensing" written on the back.
So were they actually police officers or were they licensing officers?

Errr.......... no!
But if they are licensing officers, could they be done for impersonating a police officer?

Are you sure they are not police officers working with licensing officers which is normally the case when they have a blitz

It wasn't a blitz. The one who was talking to drivers looked, from the front, just like a police officer with the hat and jacket. It was only when you saw here from the back that you saw the "taxi Licensing" label.
She was not sending the cars for an inspection or anything. I think she was there mainly to supervise where the cabs were ranking and make sure that the PH were not misbehaving.

Perhaps they were, but why would they be dressed to look like police officers? Don't forget, they were wearing police looking hats.

Sherwood Green is the only colour of LTI vehicle allowed to be licensed in Nottingham.

That is why I called them green cabs and not black cabs. :wink:

If they have "taxi licensing" on their jackets i assume they cannot stop/check PH?....

Yes you are correct they were Licensing Enforcement Officers from Nottingham City Council.
