We had a party of 12 to take over to Leicester for Diwali last night as they were going to be picked up again 2 and a half hours later I decided to wait a couple of miles up the road so parked up off troon way and walked up onto the railway bridge to watch some of the fireworks. I stood there for nearly an hour and there must have been a firework going off every single second and this was still going at half past nine when we picked the party up again ! A lot of the fireworks were quite big ones too so must have cost a lot of money and I am told this goes on from 4 in the afternoon till midnight so there must have been a million quids worth let off in one night in Leicester ! On the way back one of my party was telling me that the word Diwali in India also means bankrupt I'm not surprised

Quote: The name "Diwali" or "Divali" is a contraction of "Deepavali" (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvalī), which translates into "row of lamps" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali |
