After over 10 years working for the same insurance brokerage, I was made redundant on Thursday! The firm merged with another back in the summer and I think it boiled down to too many chiefs and so yours truly is now joining the ranks #-o of the full time Licensed Personal Transportation Contractors. The insurance business was great for coming up with pretentious job titles so I thought I'd be a bit creative

I'm glad Ive got a bit of experience under my belt but in the 2 years I've been driving part time I have noticed a significant downturn in business. Up to now I've been driving a client friend's car but do I now go the whole hog and buy my own? Lots of thinking to do over the next few weeks! I'll probably be asking for advice and will post how things are going.

Last night was not bad but most of the work was Christmas Parties, the pubs otherwise looked really quiet. Time to scartch head and find some "unmet demand"

Good luck matey!

Times may not be great but I'm a lot happier with my own motor than driving for someone else. Start when I want, finish when I want, only have to answer to myself.

Could you not offer yourself as an agent?

If not then get your own motor, things will improve.

Acting as an agent is a possibility. The chap whose vehicles I drive is a friend and has been a client for years. Hoping to get something going with him as I just seemed to have landed a deal with a firm that places foreign students in UK schools. Primarily airport transfers at start and finsish of term. Could be good.

Worked last night. OMG quiet! I did expect that though. Just want to get my head around the different characteristics of each period of the day/night.

. Been there, done that. TBH I'm really enjoying the change of pace at the moment. I know the hours are long but the stress is different and a change is as good as a rest. That is of course subject to change. Last night was a little better. I am taking it a bit easy this side of Christmas, just working evenings sharing a car. I have done a deal to rent for 3 months to get used to day work and will then decide what to buy.
