Been through an absolutely grueling 9 months getting my taxi badge and plates, now they are finally here i am ready to go and meet the operator whos company i will be driving for.

The company i will be driving for uses Cordic to dispatch their jobs to the drivers. As a controller off and on for 7 years that has used Cordic it is a system i favour over Mercury and was well acquainted with Cordic from a dispatchers point of view.

However, i have never used Cordic before from a drivers point of view, and would like some experts on this forum to give me a brief run down on how to use the handheld PDA so i know as much as possible about the system before going to see the operator.

My understanding of the handheld PDA system is that you switch it on, and when a job comes you press accept, when picked up customer you press POB and when dropped off you press clear, then wait for the next job? this might be a very limited and primitive understanding? so could someone please take a little time and explain to me exactly how from switching the device on, to dropping off a passenger, i use my handheld cordic pda system to recieve jobs? how does it work?

Thanks

You appear to have grasped the important bits already. You should get a handbook with your set from the operator which will explain the rest e.g bidding for work (which is something I've never had the opportunity to do), the history of your jobs (which needs to be cleared occasionally), volume control, the stupid sat nav which if pressed accidently is a swine to get rid of imo and try as I might I still haven't found any games  It's easy to use and don't forget to learn how to lock it or you'll be pressing more emergencies than soft joe  If it is locked you can't accept jobs until you unlock it but it's pretty easy to do and you shouldn't miss accepting a job. Sometimes it gets a bit sticky depending what the reception is like but if you move your vehicle when this happens it should clear itself when pressing the 'pay' button. I wouldn't take the suggested fare it gives you either as accurate
