A taxi firm round here used to tell their drivers to divide their earnings by the minimum wage so that they seemed to be earning more. Mist were working between 60 and 80 hours a week but by calculating this way they seemed to be working between 20 and 30 hours a week. |

I've just finished a 6am - 3pm shift. Grand total of £45. Minus £140 for two tyres, £10 fuel, £20 rent, £7 insurance, £3 screenwash, £5 can of spraypaint, £4 carwash and a couple of quid to get the time on the meter changed. MINUS £146 for 9 hours work Quick break and I'm out again by the looks of it.

Work less hours, earn a bit less, get below the tax threshold and pay no tax and be better off. you know it makes sense. Don't forget to claim your working tax credits and bring forward last year's losses. You might find this thread useful in working out your costs: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21108 |
