Just a few tales of past incidents encountered by female passengers.

One I found interesting was the mini cab firm that employed 32 drivers but not one appeared to be working legally.

I suppose at least now those iffy firms have a license to lose, whereas before they had nothing to lose by employing scum. :sad:

Yes, that's the case we used to illustrate the extent of the black economy in the trade, although of course that's a different issue.

But it does shed some light on your other question, ie would licensing clean up the trade?

In my manor I'm pretty sure most drivers are unkown to the Inland Revenue, so to that extent licensing doesn't make the trade whiter than white.

Of course, this is not as bad as illegal immigration and the like, but it perhaps illustrates what I said in the other thread - that licensing will alleviate some problems, but not eradicate them.
