Post subject:  The new GBC cab?
Taking a trip North this week to view this one, looks like a top end of the range example.

'H898' may be retiring a bit earlier than I thought.

Any offers? :lol:

our council wouldnt let on any FXs that arent already licensed.
if the fx is more than 5 years then it wont be licensed.
still at least we now know where we can dump our crap.

Well I put the deposit down today for the 'new' GBC cab.

Its a (no abuse please) 1998 'R' TX1, Silver, dark grey.

Its just had a respray, overhaul and service, new tyres, drivers seat and carpets and comes with a 2 year warranty from Trevor JOEL'S Nationwide Taxi sales dealership.

I would have preffered an E7, but in reality they may be some months off, and even then I would like to see how they perform.

So H898 retires in 3 weeks, god bless her, and R622 comes online.

I know people take the pee over an H reg, but hand on heart its never let me down once.
It runs as good as it did when I first bought it, that said i've noticed people in quieter times hailing the TX shaped taxi's over the Fairways, so who knows I might generate some more customers if i'm working a day shift?

So how do you know this then - you look in your mirror and see a punter you passed with his hand down climbing into a TX :-k

Sometimes it exactly that.

Most times its feedback from people who tell me, whilst impressed with the state of the current GBC mobile, they prefer the room the newer style Taxi's offer.

Some of the Radio Taxi circuits operate 'TX' only calls from customers.

.............. and the usual question during the summer 'Driver, which switch operates the rear air conditioning?'

Difference is Mr Olave, ours are stripped down and literaly rebuilt every year, then they are taken to bits and scrutinised by a CO, then and only then will they be given a plate to work.
Then throughout the course of the year, they are subject to spot checks regularly by the on street Inspectors.

In your case you turn up for an MOT, get a cardboard 'baby on board' circle and off you go.

Still dream on, one day you might get to meet a real CO.

Until then enjoy your rental fee's. :wink:
