It's that time of the year again the 12th of April, the anniversary of that of a great man who 8 years ago left this earth after a long fight with a debilitating illness called emphysema which he secumed to after working down the coal mines all his life. That man was my father, John Marchant, a great husband to my mother Margaret, a great dad to my sisters Karen, Linda and myself, a super grandad to Alan Golding, Ricky Golding, Liam Liburd and Hannah Liburd.

The approach to his anniversary today Friday the 12th of April has been a hard week for me, if I'm not at my normal best at anytime today or over the weekend please be patient normal service will be resumed ASAP.

Cheers all

Nidge

Can't believe its 8 years ago.

Chin up Nidge, I'm sure he'll still be laughing at your weekly exploits in the cab!

Take heart in knowing he hasn't gone away, you just can't see him anymore

My wife woke me up to tell me my dad died that morning on Sunday 23rd of December last year, had the funeral between Christmas and new year, still cannot get my head around it.
Mum found him in his chair, doc said he had died peacefully in his sleep

My parents had been married 65 years, 2 years ago mum was in and out of hospital, diagnosed at 88 with cancer, she was on morphine at her care home, but stable

we took a week away in the campervan and mid week at 2am a text came saying she had slipped away, the hardest part was ringing dad at 8am (they were in the same care home but different rooms) we didnt actually speak more than 2 words, just cried at each other down the phone...more for his loss than losing mum oddly

but, life goes on

take it 1 day at a time nige

losing a close family member is always tough my dad passed away in 1965 and my mum 2004, i always visit the grave on their birthdays and anniversary's but i don't go there any other time as i feel there is just a dead body their and nothing else and when i do go i also visit my son Brian's grave he died in 2002 aged 32 GBNF, but we all have to go down that road sometime or another
