My county council are about to be in deep poo.
We tendered for one of our existing school contracts after it was terminated 2 years early due to "a review of local taxi contracts". We'd done the job faultlessly for over 2 years at a good price (for us), so presumed the council wanted to try to save money. We were on about £56 a day for a 21 mile run am & pm (now down to 18 miles twice a day). We tendered cheaper, assuming local boy would go at their usual 50p a mile rate.
We never got the job. We found a firm in Folkestone (18 miles from the first pick up)got the job. o we done an FoI enquiry.
3 firms tendered for the job, the dearest £86, middle price (the successful bidder) £59, us £36.50!!
WTF, as KCC are wasting over £7k of taxpayers money on this job; they do not take into account environmental matters when awarding tenders; they clearly take no notice of the council leader's rhetoric that he will promote and help businesses on the Romney Marsh! Wait for this to hit the press!!
