I think that you would be on very sticky ground if you think that you can sit in your cab using one of these. In the event of anyone being cctv/imaged and charged, you would have one heck of a job proving it was not the real thing.

Two of the lads down here are trying them out.

And they appear to be working.

My mum stopped smoking in 1968 because of cancer. She lived until she was 76 and died in 1998 because of a hospital mistake. My dad quit in 1971 and is now 86. He used to smoke 70-80 a day and stopped overnight. I have never smoked.

I don't think you would imo they don't really look like real cigarettes, for one they never get any shorter

I've never given up smoking but I have chosen not to have a cigarette for the last 11 years. I am perfectly free to have one within the next five minutes if I wish; I just don't wish. Well done to those making the same choice.

Last autumn there was a news story that received pretty significant coverage regarding a UK taxi cab driver who was fined for smoking in his vehicle. The most interesting part of the story was the fact that the man claimed to have been using an e-cig when he was spotted by a nearby police officer. Since he could not substantiate his claim by producing the device to show the officer, he was fined for tobacco use. The man eventually accepted his fate and paid the fine.

I could not get the web address accepted graphically on here - if you type in "taxi driver fined for smoking an E-cig" the article should come up.

I think more than anything is that they ( the courts) are afraid that they will be used as a false excuse............of which they would

It clearly states that the man could not substantiate his claim and that may well have had something to do with his not being believed.

Go to the court with the ecig and show them ? Is it not for them to prove beyond reasonable doubt.
