For the first time in my life it is nice to see a "Union" get off of their backsides and actively advertise/canvas for new members.

The only "Union" moving forward in our time..........."Unite"..........a lot of the rest having sold out.

The only credible body that could have stopped the financial supression that we all live under. The thieves of Westminster would have been stopped in their tracks.............in the old days.

Because it is news, maybe not from a newspaper - but it is still news.

Not a fan of Unite, but I suspect someone is actually doing a good job recruiting, and good luck to him.

Whilst recruiting isn't easy, keeping members is very hard.

It depends what lies they tell people - they have a habit of telling half truths and downright lies to the cab trade.

I well remember how well Unite defended one of their members down in Southampton.

They pulled out the stops for him.

52 year old driver having sex with a pi**ed up 19 year old.

Got found not guilty of rape, but didn't deny he had sex with her in the back of the cab.

Unite really done well for him.

They beat the OFT remember? Presumably because they had so much influence with the Labour Government

They brought the cross border hiring thing to the attention of the government - who were so enthused by the idea - its likely to become legal.

They tried to scare the public by saying what the law commission plan would affect the most vulnerable - that's true - if the most vulnerable are taxi owners I guess

They are currently on a mass recruitment campaign - I recently spoke with a NTA member in the North West - who was approached and asked whether he was a member of the local association - the guy then went on to completely savage the local association and associations in general - sadly he was speaking to the association secretary - who pointed out a few home truths. But that's the way this union plays it.

I've been in meetings with these people and they are thick as f*ck - promotion appears to be dependent upon who can shout the loudest and rim correctly.
