A contact has asked if he can get finance for a car (PH use) but he has a poor credit history, but is on the electoral roll and has been with his bank 5 years (no overdraft or loan), he has had a credit card with a £2000 limit and always pays it off in full each month, ive looked through the taxi/PH magazine and there are some adverts offering "guaranteed" finance for "bad history" but ive warned him some just want the admin fee....

Cabdirect
Taxi Direct.net
Cabs4less
the taxi shop
taxi van and truck (01782?)
claybank motor company
voyager MPV

Anyone know who can be trusted?....if any....

Hes a good guy looking for a break after his ex-wife played away, skinned him, took his house and money

poor lad....lol

Most people can get credit for a car the difference will be the APR % that they pay, poor credit will mean higher APR. Has the guy done his own credit check with Equifax or Experian they only cost £2 and they are usually what lenders use as a guide. The alternative would be that he rents a vehicle.

He should just ring them up and ask.

But if they say yes, don't allow him to sign or do anything until he has thought things through for at least 24 hours.

do you mean about applying for the credit/car or simply about going out as a cabbie?...

I know every credit check is recorded and can count against a credit score...

ive warned him not to pay for applications

I think you have to do quite a number of failed applications before it effects an application like this.

But if he doesn't apply then he will never get credit.

And you are spot on in relation to paying for an application, if the mush on the other line wants money up front, then it's a scam.

Please please please tell him to avoid Fowlers AKA Taxi Van and Truck. A mate of mine got stung big time off them and their Finance Company Advantage Finance, the car was hanging and full of faults, all they want is the car off their forecourt and the finance deal signed and you gone.

He's in the process of taking them to the high court after he won and secured a CCJ against them for £6,700 plus costs of £2,100 but like Fowlers they didn't pay him. He's sending in the High Court Bailiffs which cost him £45 I think and they add their charges on top.

Avoid avoid avoid, they're a bad bunch and only the people who are on their backsides credit wise use them.
