Taxi Driver Online

I went to Manchester airport this morning to pick up 5 Nigerian students and take them to Nottingham. Unfortunatly 4 of them got the wrong tickets and ended up in Aberdeen. So who got the job of picking them up around noon today and taking them all the way to Nottingham? Was it anyone on here? The fare quoted was £650.

My Google map makes it 817 miles round trip, £650 Divide by 817 miles = 79.5 ppm...

Fuel would cost around £110....so £540 for 15 hours work plus a wee Sleep in lay by included.

Works out at £36 per hour Driving time...I could live with that.

The first company that quoted was £940.

Aberdeen Airport to Nottingham City Centre Google says 840 miles round trip.

£540 Isn't much recompense for a weekend's lost work. Not around here anyway.
I'd have wanted at least £800.

And I've have kipped at my brother's place in Nottingham

That was one of the problems. The students would not have had any money to pay the fare and the college were going to pay. However the college is in Nottingham and the people with access to the college funds were not available because it was a Saturday. The woman that was travelling with me was trying to organise a payment by card to the company and it ended up being paid by one of the other staff members on her personal card. Normally work for these colleges is on account and even though there were other students on the same flight to Aberdeen who were going to Glasgow university, which is part of the same group, each university has a separate account and there was no one available to make the decision to put the job on the Glasgow account and then Nottingham would reimburse Glasgow. What a cock up.
