Any body ever operated wedding cars? Did you find it profitable? What were you insurance prices like? Was there any demand at all in winter? Any one who has any thoughts cheers

We started off as a wedding car company. We did not make any real profit from it. There are some company's that do specialise it weddings and seem to do quite well but you would need quite a diverse fleet to be able to cater for the many different tastes. We did make more money when we expanded from a Rolls Royce and a Jaguar to include a stretched limousine but that was because the limousine could also do all the other types of work because it was licensed.
The insurance that we had for the Rolls and Jag was classic car insurance that had unlimited wedding cover as part of the policy.

I operate wedding buses, slightly different, but get to meet wedding car operators most weekends. Most seem to break even or cover costs. Most weddings are weekends only, so you have a diverse fleet sitting there costing money all week but only earning on Saturdays.

H&R insurance is typically around £1200 a year through my broker, but if you have classic cars you can get cheaper insurance, but there's usually a mileage limit on how many days you intend to operate.
