Autos are better than years ago but theres no solid mechanical between crank and back wheels cos they have fluid flywheels/torque converters, in top gear some have "lock up" i prefer autos but not for work |

I currently have my first ever auto. Great to drive, heavy on fuel. Is the cost of it worth the better driving experience for you? |

I've always had auto for ph work. why go to the extra expense of having to change gear a million times a week when you don't need to? then there's the cost of changing the clutch every 120,000 miles if you're heavy on the left foot. The new Skoda Octavia reckons 77mpg on the auto anyway. I'll let you know in a year if it does that! |

Defo manual for taxis, even VW's DSG isn't made for taxiing, one of the drivers up here just got a 13 plate same colour as mine superb 2.0 TDI DSG and I told him that he should have got a manual box, but he said he got a good deal on the car, and its in SE+ spec too |
