The book will be fine so long as you can do simple sums and don't need it to work things out for you. It's not rocket science and you should only need an accountant if you earn over £15k I think, but, you should check that with the tax office. |

I used to use Cheap accounts books from the Local Stationers...all lined and ready for you to use..cheaps as chips. Now though and after being given a copy of a Suitable spread sheet gratefully received from Nidge a couple of years ago and which with a bit of modest modification of dates and various headings suits me just fine...I don't even print them off for my accountant, just stick them on a Memory stick and send it off along with receipts. You just have to be careful and remember to continuously back them up for safe keeping. |

Foxtrot26 wrote: would be grateful is someone could send me a copy of said spreadsheet email Rob at thephda dot co dot uk PM me if you haven't as yet got hold of a spread sheet, I've a 2012 Excel template here which is easily modified for later dates and to suit your own financial year as my year starts in July. Its a Modification on the one i was given and has extra columns in it for easier break down of sales and purchases. |

A good accountant will be able to offset things such as cleaning of clothes, use of light/heat, depreciation etc., and will know how to proportion those figures for business use. You may save more in tax, because you are legitimately able to claim for things you don't know about, than what you pay for an accountant's services. |
