What it will cost to add my 21 year old lad (no NCB, 1 accident last year, his fault) to my insurance....

Is that your private car insurance or your private hire/taxi insurance?

To add a driver to my policy;

Under 30 years old = Increase by 100% (quote was for a 28 y/o) :shock:
Over 30 = Increase by 50%
Over 50 = Increase by 25%

The quotes were for my current policy which at the time of inception was best for me alone, at renewal I should get a better deal with the extra driver. I could have got a better deal for the under 30 but I would have had to cancel the current insurance and take out a new policy, thus losing a years NCD which at 10 months into the policy wasn't worth it.

We did yes but the insurance companies will insist on taking the cab trades pants down.

With there only being a few companies who insure Taxis they've all had their heads together and upped their prices.
