usually the insurance will want a deposit of 10 to 20 percent and the rest in installments but be warned there is a premium charged for paying by installments so the overall cost is a little higher

So more or less like what normal insurance is like then.!!!

What other expenses are there? Let me know if i miss something...
Petrol, Radio hire, badge cost. wear and tear on the car!!

except five times more expensive

some bases pay for fleet insurance and sell it on

Before you turn a wheel expenses:

£2500 Insurance
£2500 + Annual Vehicle Depreciation
£500 Licenses etc
£3000 Car HP repayments

=£8500 for year

Then annual running costs:

Fuel £5000 per year
Spares and Repairs £1500 per year
Spurious costs £1000 per year

= £7500 for year...maybe more if you do a higher mileage.

£7500 + £8500 = £16000. per annum.

lets assume you drive 30000 miles at 80pence per mile..that would equate to £24000 of income less the £16000 costs would leave an income of some £8000 per year, divided by 52 weeks equals £153.00 per week income.

you may drive more or you may drive less.....but you'll never be a rich man off the back of it.

Well i initially want to do it part time...Evenings and weekends.
I need to buy a car and obviously the other costs...insurance, badge, radio costs (and whatever else there is supposed to be in PH) ill be able to recuperate through that. I hope. Ill then decide if its something I want to do full time or not.

I wouldnt want to be in any dangerous situation. You hear the horror stories all the time.

So you'll drive all day in one job then drive in the evenings and weekends as a taxi/ph driver? You'll be in danger of becoming one of the horror stories we read about

Im not in a driving job at the moment. Im a keyboard monkey right now! :)

Irrelevant IMO you're still working all day then you intend to work again in a job that requires you to be fully alert and not tired

I think you have take into account that many drivers can't change even if they wished too, as there is generally f*** all else out there at present.

But many in the trade love it and wouldn't do anything else even if an openeing appeared elsewhere.
