Background: A proposal was made, some years ago to build a 'light rapid transit' or tram system to link various local centres. It involved using an old railway route and a tunnel under the harbour. Funding was already tight until the MOD ordered two large aircraft carriers. This required the tunnel to run deeper under the harbour and the additional cost put paid to the scheme. Bright Spark emerges from his burrow and says let's have a 'bus rapid transit!' Great idea, exclusive bus road. Bus journey times slashed. Part of the scheme required the re-categorising of lane one of a dual carriageway to become a bus lane for about a mile towards the new BRT road. Result: Buses run OK, other traffic has ground to a standstill and journey times have increased. Cue a review: An additional bus lane will be built alongside the existing dual carriageway but, it will be buses only because the bus companies have objected to taxis using them. Are taxis part of the public transport system? Does the Equality Act have any bearing in that customers who cannot get on buses will be disadvantaged by longer journeys and waiting time charges because of their disabilities? We have had no comments about liveries or any other matters, just the bus company don't want it!!! |

If you aint a Bus then your just lowlife.. As for road designers, they tinker but never cure, they'll Come up with a brainwave idea that we cant live without and that costs millions then in 5 years time they'll change back to how it was before their brainwave idea. Bunch of Uni-Qualified burks, often designing roads before they can even drive on them.

They've given the go ahead to install Bus lane Cameras round this way. There's not 500 yards of bus lanes round here but they're installing cameras at a cost of £100K. |

Just shows you how bloody stupid these people are, my, how good they are at wasting other peoples money.. ![]() Maybe the Locals should have an overseeing body that can vet such needlessly wasteful ventures before the moneys spent. |
