My local LO gives the choice of either of these for a new applicant, so my question is Which would you recommend going for? A bit of background, I've been driving professionally since 1998, on PCV (stage carriage as well as private hire coaches) and LGV Full licence since 92 DSA test is about half the cost of the Btec but I am completely new to taxi work. Also I won't be in a wheelchair accessible vehicle....just a bog standard saloon. Over to you |

I'd opt for the Btec. As you say you've been driving professionally for a number of years so why not try something new. You may pick up something useful Strange how the LA give you a choice of two completely different things.

Well I contacted the college today and the Btec course is not running in October. Next available date is 18th November, which means we are looking at early to mid Dec before I get on the road. So it looks like it is going to be the dsa test. Has anyone been through it recently and can give me a few pointers. Ie, do you have to drive like in the original car test (hands at 10 - 2 on the wheel, push and pull the steering/no crossing hands etc) or is it more relaxed? I've read through what I can find about the content but what is it actually like in the real world? Thanks in advance |

Thanks in advance Take a couple of lessons and you will be told the answers to the questions you posed above. It will be money well spent. |

If you cross your hands when cornering, you're cornering too fast. |
