If music is ever played on your premises for customers or staff; for example, through radio, TV, CD, MP3 or computer speakers, or at live events, this is considered a ‘public performance’ . The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 states you need to get permission from the copyright holder to ‘perform’ music in public – and a music licence grants you this permission.

Our licensing is flexible and covers the vast majority of commercial music originating from the UK and all over the world.

Please note, if you play music that is outside of PRS for Music’s control, you may need an additional licence from the relevant copyright owner(s).

There are certain circumstances under which you will not need to obtain or pay for a music licence. These are:

When there is an exemption in the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 that means you do not need one, such as when you play music as part of the curriculum in schools.

or

When your music use is covered by a PRS for Music Charging Policy and we have decided, at our discretion, not to charge for our licence in specific circumstances. Find out more about our charging policies.

or

If you never play music, or in the unlikely event that all the music you play is out of copyright or is not controlled by PRS for Music.

What kind of entertainment systems do you have in your vehicles? My own personal preference would be a hidden 7 Inch tablet...with a media storage device in the boot.. Hours of entertainment at your fingertips! : So what is your setup?

My smartphone loaded with movies. Been known to watch 2 entire films during a shift on a quiet week night. Also regularly browse the net etc using it

Also regularly browse the net etc using it I find it rather strange that we need 50" screen to watch films at home but quite happily watch films on devices designed to make phone calls outside the home

I dont have a 50 inch screen at home. Plus no chance of getting one of them in my vehicle either! Plus today's smartphones are designed with multimedia etc in mind aswell as making phone calls...

I think a 5 inch screen is more than to watch your favourite show or movie whilst your on the go! I have a nexus 7 so im going to use that

i have the CD multichanger that came with the car....how long do people sit in the car to require anything beyond this, and maybe a newspaper if i was sitting around long enough to watch films i would be at home
