Last week my brother who is also a taxi driver on the same system as me got a hire to take a kid to school, so he picks the kid up he's by himself and takes him to school apron 5 minute drive, about half way into the drive he here's some noises coming from the back of the car, he looks in the mirror and the kid is having a fit, he panics pulls up onto the pavement runs round to the kids door takes his belt off as to let him finish the fit and by chance a nurse was walking by and then took over, he put a 999s in and got an ambulance out, luckily now the kid is back to normal hut still under close observation. He is now going to take a first aid course. Do you think every taxi/ph driver should be a first aider? I now think it should be compulsory

No..Simply place them in the recovery position then hope that someone recovers them later.

And yes...both me and SWMBO have done First Aid courses...though how much I remember now I'm not sure and nor will I be sure until the need arrives to practice it, though I did twice have call to stop someone choking on their Tongue.. :?

Still if it could still help save someone's life, knowing the proper recovery position, chest compressions, Heimlich maneuver , mouth to mouth, how to stop a major bleed, even if every taxi had a defibrillator In them, if it can save someone's life? Is it really that much to ask :?

They are available on street corners around here. Most of the villages here have them now. Some have been put in the old red telephone boxes and others are in purpose built cabinets. In an emergency, I believe that you ring 999 and you are given instructions on how to get access to the defibrillator and what to do with it.

No, but every child that has fits, or a condition that might lead to fits, should have an escort.

I was thrown off a first aid course a few years back.

Asked what action to take if a person has an epileptic fit in the bath, I said "throw in your dirty washing" #-o
