so our company give the nationally known cinema chain an account and us drivers take there staff home during tarriff 2 for tarriff 1 which we get a piece of paper for.we get credit off our subs the following month, pretty standard but

last week i took kids to cinema and was horrified to see our main competitions free phone in the foyer wtf i thought,so went to the ticket desk and asked if they could phone a taxi and i was pointed in our competitions free phone.this really irked me.

i have demanded answers from our directors but so far have recieved no answer.

if we refuse an account job its a £20 fine but if i got this cinemas account job im going to refuse it.

any thoughts.

Ask your director why, your paying them a good enough wage for them to be accountable. It suprises me how they get voted back in every year.

I'd be looking for another firm. You're self employed how the feck can they fine you for refusing to do work?

I have no problem with fines for refusing account work because otherwise no one would do them.i have a problem with an establishment who we give terms to giving our competition the retail cash work.
I also have a problem with our company allowing it and the director who i dpoke to about doing nothing to sort it other than getting shirty

Giving an account to anyone and expecting exclusive rights are two different things

Your firm was a bit slow giving a tarriff 2 discount without requesting they fit the freephone

PH drivers are customers of the PH firms..... Too many allow theirselves to be treated as employees.

You'll probably find the cinema chain don't have much say in which firm gets rights to the Freephone, much like my local Sainsbury's.

A lot of the freephones are subject to a contract between a Freephone provider who then contracts it out to whichever firm tenders the most for it. Ay my Sainsbury's, we wanted the phone there, but when we found out the annual cost, it really wasn't worth it for the amount of work we'd get out of it. there is currently no Freephone there as the last 2 incumbents couldn't afford the charges! So Sainsburys call us first when anyone needs a cab!

Anyway, how can you be "fined" for refusing work? As others say, you are self-employed. Only the courts, the council and certain other statutory bodies can fine you!

I think it's totally unacceptable to do only the cheap stuff, but not the normal stuff.

Not sure the national phone ponce's have much to do with cinemas, as I'm not sure there is bundles of work.

Are they called "proxy" votes ? a alternative suggestion is get a few of your colleagues to grow some balls and find out what they really do for their money !!

the fines as i say i have no problem with as no account work would get done otherwise and at alot of our account holders we get other good cash work.

its the fact we arnt getting any cash work from said location or very little and when the same staff we take home are pointing customers in the direction of the competitions free phone its little wonder.

am i out of order or do i have a point.

yes proxy votes blackpool.

given that there are more mobile phones in use than there are actually people resident in the UK i doubt anyone uses the freephones anymore especially with most mobile tariffs having free minutes to landlines and mobiles
