As a taxi driver would I be allowed to pick up a friend and drop them off somewhere? Say if they go somewhere on a weekly basis and would prefer to use me as they know me. They would obviously pay me whatever they would have paid a taxi. Is this acceptable? |

If you are a hackney there is no problem. If you are PH then the booking needs to be made through the booking office. |

They can ask for me everytime and as long as the rank get the cut, im not doing anything illegal right? |

But for example if a friend says pick me up from x place at x time and pays me, id obv still let the office know...but that is ok is my question? As in favouritism for one driver? |

As in favouritism for one driver? Unless you have an operators license you can't accept bookings. Your friend would legally have to book through your booking office and request that you do the job. |

bases ive worked on wouldnt allow "private" bookings, and they were all hacks, which further demonstrates how bases rule the owners working/renting through the bases i once ripped a radio out and went and sat on the rank, the base op (20yds away) ran up to see what was up, i made more without the radio than with it the same base has won a 5 mile school run with Leics at £25 a day, id love to know what they are passing on to whoever does it |
