Out of the 100 POI...Ive learnt about 20%. Ive learnt where these places are i.e. What roads they are on. Seriously, in this day of satnavs...why is this even essential? (dont answer, i already know it, im venting). |

I'm not sure if it's quite there yet, but if it isn't, it soon will be.

(dont answer, i already know it, im venting). Oh and as for learning the POIs, make up memorable stories that couldn't possibly happen in real life. In fact, the more ridiculous the better, and you will remember everything you need. Focus on the story and not the place of interest. For example, you picked up a two headed Alien, bought both of them an Ice cream and took them to the museum/hospital etc..... Trust me, you will pi*s 100 POI's, if you do what I say. Oh and break everything down into manageable chunks of say 20 things to remember and link them together. Use stories about Aliens, Sex, Cartoon Characters, and anything else you can think of... You've got to learn to use your memory and especially your time, productively. Oh and study in 15 - 20-minute chunks, and build up a quick reference guide. 100 POIs would be five stories with twenty POIs in each. I would rattle through the 100 in 15 minutes and then move on to something else after a short break, hospitals, etc....

Oh and if, for some reason, you find something difficult to remember, it's because you are not making it memorable enough. Think about licking an ice cream and licking sh*t off your boot, what sticks in your mind more? Although, they say you should use positive memories rather than negative but use whatever sh*t works for you.

tangarinearmy wrote: whisky drinker eh skull I just know more than you, sh*t for brains. It's about knowing what stimulates memories to make strong neural connections. I passed the Edinburgh knowledge in a matter of weeks, doing the above and so did a mate of mine. None of this, months of study nonsense, the "knowledge" is a simple memory game. It's not like you have to write a dissertation on how to be a fecwit taxi driver. |

My only issue I think will be...the A2b route business. I'm memorising the 100 poi and the roads they are on... But I'll struggle on how to get A2b. So my approach is this: The miller: good restaurant ( shows I know what it is) location y. What do you think? |

So my approach is this: The miller: good restaurant ( shows I know what it is) location y. What do you think? Listen, you are being too analytical. Take the streets, roads, etc. Write them down in order and link them together by making up funny names and stories just like with the POIs. Forget about location Y. Use imagery linked with taste, smell, sex, pain, pleasure, etc. write stupid stories and go over the story to make it more memorable. Oh and you might want to add in characters or events you thought up in your POIs, You are over complicating things, and you are overwhelmed by all the information you have to remember. This is a game. It should be fun. You are taking things far too seriously to remember anything, and you'll be at it for months. If you have ten things to remember write them down in order and start from there. The miller: You ate a rat sh*t sandwich in the miller restaurant, link it to the steet name... or think up your own story. Trust me, this works, if you can get your head around it. |

In Edinburgh there is a club called the BMC, we used to call it the Broken Marriages Club on the Gorgie Road. There is also three hospitals on the Corstorphine road, Beechwood Hospital, Murrayfield Hospital and Corstorphine Hospital. BMC-BMC do you see the link? |
