You just cant please some people. Our license fees are due to increase by 25% on April 1st. Our table of fares is also due to go up on April 1st I spent quite a lot of time sorting out the formula so that the table of fares covers ALL costs and should give drivers the chance to earn at least the living wage. This means that the Council license fees are included in the formula as a separate item so that drivers can identify that they have been included. So that should be that. Both things are now linked together and whatever the license fees are in the future , the table of fares will change to allow for this. Simples yes? Apparently not. I was talking to a driver this morning, who was given a copy of the proposed tariff and how it was worked out. At the time he agreed with it and signed to say so. Well now he says he is going to object to the fees even though they are linked to the fares.

What is the reason for licence fees increasing by 25%, after all, the council must not profit from licencing. Maybe they should be reminded of that fact. |

We have had at least 3 years now of 25% increases and the fees are still nowhere near full cost recovery. According to the Council even if the fees were doubled they would still be below cost recovery. |

if the fees have increased 1/4 each year for three year (i.e. x75% of the 2011 fees) you must have been mugging them in 2010.... |

Why did he object? Does he want to run the public around for nothing? |

He told me yesterday that even if it costs him £5,000 a year to keep it on the road he will do it just to annoy the LO. That makes perfect business sense.

If a vehicle has been plated when we had no age limit, it can continue to be plated. Grandfather rights. |
