Post subject:  Accounts for tax
Just got my accounts back from the Accountant for me to sign so they can electronicly send it back to the taxman

Hey something wrong, tax is way to high, went through it a bit and thought something was wrong, took the lot back to the accountants, they failed to note that I had just bought a new vehicle,[depreciation, interest etc] and some business direct debits which don't have receipts was not picked up
They said we don't check everthing and every receipt
Take note, you maybe paying to much tax if you have an accountant like mine, check it over before you sign.

Why don't you remember what they have deducted (or when they have got it right), copy it, and then next year do it yourself.

Think of that money you will save.:wink:

Unless you keep a proper set of books and/or accounts then if you don't provide documentation for all your transactions then your accountant could well fail to pick them up.

If you have major transactions during the year (such as a new car, or meter or whatever) then this should be mentioned in your covering letter, as should other non-obvious items.

As I have said before in a simular thead. Don't be clever. I thought I could be some years ago. Being clever got me an interview with IR and a bill for a few K.
Moral... Use an accountant. If not satisfied with the one you have, get another one.

a few dundee cabbies have been pulled in for the dreaded interview even cabbies who have always paid their tax and thought they were safe, at the end of the day id be more comfortable knowing i had an accountant to back me up or even blame on any dicrepancys

Stinky Pete or should it be "Sqeakey Clean" ever since the interview 12 yrs ago with IR and they wanted 36 grand then for starters, just looked out the window and seen pigs flying, this accountancy firm got me outa the mire, been satisfied with the firm, the boss of the firm died a few months ago and is now run by his son, some kinda teething problems maybe

All documents were supplied, in monthly batches, I have just gone through my books since April and I am listing all docs/invoices/direct debits on the weekly takings sheet as and when they happen to save this happening again

Hey the taxman should be paying me this year coming
