1. From your base pick up, drive 30 miles south, drop and back 2. From your base 15 miles north to pickup, then 30 miles south to drop and back 3. From your base 30 miles north to pick up, the back to base and drop off all daytime in a 7 seater |

The three jobs are of equal distance. On each job it is a 30 mile total drive, times your rate i.e @ £2 per mile you are looking at £180 |

I think he is saying that each job is 30 loaded miles at £2.00 per mile so each job will be £60.00 so all three jobs together would be £180.00 |

ok, so any of the jobs would be worth £60.....(30 loaded miles at £2/mile for the sake of comparison) our base wants £2/mile TO a 1st pickup the £2/mile to the last drop so 1 would be £60, 2 would be £90 and 3 would be i just dont know..... |

Jobs 1&3 are exactly the same, both being the equivalent of picking up and coming back empty/dead mileage. Job 2 is 15 dead miles going out & 15 dead miles coming back you have a 30 mile trip in between.......still giving you overall a 60 mile round trip...............NO different to jobs 1&3. On any trip unless it is a silly (come out to me 6 miles up the road and take me a mile further on), will be exactly the same as picking up outside your office i.e paid miles going.....dead miles coming back. The three jobs are exactly in that vein, only your office cannot see it. |

When I told him the price which was the metered fare from pick up to drop off, he told me that he had previously used another company who had charged the same fare as me but had charged him half as much again for doing the pick up. Where I'm base there's an awful lot of dead mileage. But unless I'm getting the rate for all the mileage, the jobs are often not worth doing. As long as it works out at about £1 mile for everything, then I'm making some small profit. |

In the short time that I have been driving....Ive found that I have to drive about 2-2.5 miles to get to a job and on average the jobs are about £4-6 (estimated). |
